My experience at Crowne Plaza Kansas City Downtown was quite mixed. While I appreciated the friendly staff and great location near the P&L District, I encountered significant issues with noise and service. The executive lounge I expected during my stay was closed, which was disappointing given the price I paid for the room. Additionally, I found the elevators and some aspects of the room itself, especially the mattress, to be underwhelming. Overall, while the staff made efforts to create a pleasant atmosphere, the various drawbacks made my stay less enjoyable than I had hoped.

Rooms
5.0
My room on the 23rd floor had a decent view, but I could hear loud elevator noise throughout my stay. The mattress sagged in the middle, which made sleep uncomfortable. Bathrooms felt too cramped to even fit a bath mat.
Service
5.0
The front desk staff were friendly, but I felt let down by their lack of flexibility regarding a late check-out request. They didn't even consider my status as a high-yield IHG member. I also had to remind them about housekeeping services, which were understaffed.
Location
8.0
The location was perfect for accessing the convention center and nearby restaurants in the P&L District, making it convenient for my trip. I was able to explore the area easily on foot.
Dining
5.0
Breakfast at the restaurant was standard at best, with weak coffee and a buffet that didn’t stand out. My experience at the lobby restaurant for dinner was frustrating; my burger order was incorrect, took an hour to arrive, and wasn’t cooked as requested.
Facilities
5.0
While the rooftop pool was a nice feature, the overall condition of the elevators was disappointing. They felt outdated and not properly maintained, which impacted my experience.

I had a mixed experience during my stay at Crowne Plaza Kansas City Downtown. The hotel's central location made exploring the area easy, and I enjoyed the cleanliness of the rooms. However, the noise level was disruptive, with sounds from nearby rooms and construction disturbing my rest. I was also disappointed with the executive lounge situation, which was closed during my visit despite being advertised, and the service at the restaurant was below expectations. 🤷‍♂️😕

Rooms

While my room was clean, the noise from toilets flushing and elevator squeaking made it hard to relax. The mattress I slept on sagged in the middle, which wasn't comfortable.
Service

The staff's friendliness stood out, especially my van driver, Darryl, who had an engaging personality. However, the check-in staff was slightly rude, which was disappointing.
Location

The location was perfect! Just a short walk to the convention center and nearby attractions, which greatly enhanced my overall experience.
Dining

The dining experience was underwhelming; despite a decent breakfast buffet, the service was slow and orders were confused, detracting from what could have been a much better experience.
Facilities

I appreciated the cleanliness and the rooftop pool, but it was disappointing that the executive lounge was closed, and the gym facilities did not meet expectations.

5.6/10

I had a mixed experience during my stay at Crowne Plaza Kansas City Downtown. The location is fantastic, as it's close to multiple attractions, but my check-in took an excruciatingly long 27 minutes, and the room situation was not ideal. The room itself was spacious and comfortable, yet there were issues like a malfunctioning refrigerator and elevator noises that disrupted my peace. Overall, while the staff were friendly and I appreciated some aspects, the inconsistencies and service mishaps left me disappointed. 😕🏨

Rooms

The room was spacious and comfortable, but issues cropped up like a broken refrigerator and noise from the elevators. I expected more from an executive room, especially regarding cleanliness and maintenance.
Service
6.0
The staff I encountered were generally friendly and helpful, though my check-in experience was chaotic, and some staff members were unresponsive to my concerns about lounge access. The responsiveness varied quite a bit.
Location
8.0
The hotel's location is superb, right near the Power and Light District and within walking distance to many attractions. This made my stay convenient and allowed easy access to restaurants and events.
Dining

Breakfast was fine but nothing special, being a standard buffet with weak coffee. The promised lounge access was a letdown since it was closed, requiring us to navigate a crowded lobby instead.
Facilities
5.0
The rooftop pool had a nice vibe but lacked sufficient sunlight after noon, which was disappointing. Additionally, the elevators felt outdated, adding to my overall discomfort with the hotel’s condition.

I loved my stay at Crowne Plaza Kansas City Downtown. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, making me feel welcomed right from check-in. My room was comfortable, though I did experience some issues at checkout that left me disappointed. The hotel's location in the vibrant Power and Light District was perfect for exploring nearby attractions.

My room was spacious and had a comfortable bed, but it was a bit worn with minor issues like the shower not working properly. I enjoyed the beautiful view from the 18th floor.
Service

While I had a warm welcome from staff like Amanda at the front desk, my checkout experience was frustrating. The receptionist's unwillingness to accommodate my request for a company address on the bill was disappointing.
Location

The hotel is ideally situated just blocks from the streetcar and major attractions, making it easy to get around Kansas City. The proximity to restaurants and entertainment was a major plus.

I really enjoyed the coffee shop downstairs. The white mocha I had was delicious. However, the breakfast experience could have been smoother, as I had issues with the vouchers upon arrival.

The hotel features a rooftop pool which looked inviting, though it’s unfortunate that it was not fully operational during my stay. The overall atmosphere of the hotel was beautiful and well-maintained.

I had a great time at the Crowne Plaza Kansas City Downtown! The staff was super friendly and helpful, making me feel right at home. My room was clean and the bed? So comfy! However, I did have a bit of a hassle with breakfast vouchers not matching what I expected, which was a bit disappointing. Overall, it was a solid stay with a few bumps along the way.
